An ink cartridge contains ink, while a toner cartridge contains toner. The toner within a toner cartridge is essentially dry ink, and not wet ink as in the case of an inkjet cartridge. Visually, toner cartridges are longer than inkjet cartridges, and roughly the same length as a ruler.
